A Question For The Weekend

My kids are all excited about starting VBS tonight! Except we're calling it SBA (Summer Bible Adventure) - but they're just as excited. I always loved VBS - what about you?

What's your favorite memory from or about VBS?

Loved it! And we always made the rounds around town...we went to them all. CofC, Baptist, Methodist...all of 'em! And we loved them all!

I'm coming in with the singing. I was that kid that was so excited to sing kid songs in church. I loved that we sang them loud! Yelling in church?! Yeah, I was all about it....

Sadly, I don't remember a lot about my childhood VBS's -- other than KNOWING that I went. Mom was usually teaching, if not directing the whole she-bang, and dad would come in for what we would now call "praise and worship" time. I remember the year we made etched mirrors for crafts. By far my favorite.

Ok... Yes, I was the fat kid that loved the fact that sweet little old ladies brought Kool-Aid in Dixie Cups, Cheese Puffs, and Vanilla Off-brand Oreo's into our classrooms. Food in a CofC classroom in the 70s? In Tenn.? YIKES!! Had to be VBS!!! Yippee!

Yeah, now I am remembering little old ladies bringing trays of cookies and GLASS pitchers of Kool-aid to our classrooms. Yet the highlight was always the picnic on Friday - the grand finale.

And the c of C VBS that I remember was anti-craft. Always thought the Baptists had it better when it came to VBS. Crafts.

I remember VBS at Roebuck when you were teaching and I was helping...Casey Mann was really cutting up for about two nights in a row. All the other little boys wanted to be just like Casey, so monkey see, monkey do. You finally spoke to his mom or dad and we had no more trouble with Casey Mann....by the way, he married Wendy last Saturday.
