A Little Grin

Our cousin, Bette, a plump fluffy woman from Arkansas, made herself a sandwich out of a scone, raspberry jam, and clotted cream, and told me all about her prize-winning chickens, Silver Laced Wyandottes and Buff Orpingtons. She had a way of catching her breath in little gasps and rushing on after each pause to prevent her listener from getting in a word that might divert the conversation from the subject of poultry.

I'm RELATED to several people like that -- and I'm probably headed in that direction myself!

What were the English thinking when they invented the term "Clotted Cream?" The scones, jam and cream sound delightful, leave out the clots.

I think I would like to try the scones, clotted cream, and jam. I have some scones I could make if anyone else has an idea about clotted cream and jam.

I don't know what clotted cream is and I'm with Tammy - it sounds gross....

Love Sleeping at the Starlite Motel and Mama Makes Up Her Mind. Not so big on Quite a Year for Plums, her fiction work.

Bailey White lives in Defuniak Springs, FL, and (I am not a stalker) I have driven by her house on my way back from Paige's Mom's house before, on the off chance that she would be out pulling weeds or something, and I could meet her!

The subject of poultry can easily segue into pork. At work today I told the story of when my Dad made y'all come out behind the BBQ shack in Henderson and see the portly, sweaty man pull pork off the smoking pig, while sweat dripped off of his nose and back onto the meat.

Now clotted cream does not seem so bad, does it?
