Somewhere There's A Place

Well, I'm reading another book and it set me thinking...... Annie Freeman's Traveling Funeral by Kris Radish is a tale of 4 women celebrating the life of their dead friend. The dead friend is sending them back to the places in her life that have great meaning for her. It made me think - where are my places?

Of course, Harding comes to mind. I would love to wander on campus again and sit in a Harding swing with my sweetie. He came along LONG after I left there and we never went up there while we lived in Monticello. Outside of Searcy is Camp Wyldewood - I worked there for 3 summers. That place means a lot to me and I would love for ALL my friends to go to Bee Rock. I've tried to explain the burning of the cross to people but it doesn't translate well. Lisa, tell them it isn't bad! Do they still do it? Does the guy still say, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani!" (Mark 15:34) I would love to back there and take all my bestest friends.

Where are your places? Places that mean so much to you. Places that made you who you are. Places that if you close your eyes - you're there.

I love Bee Rock too, Denise. Along the Harding/Searcy lines, let's go to Heber Springs, Sugar Loaf, and Petit Jean.

Those of us not from Harding make unbelievable fun of the whole swing thing. One of my coaches in high school's uncle's brother's wife's neighbor's cousin (or something like that) made the miniature ones for the bookstore. My brush with fame.

Where would I go? ACU -- Moody coliseum, to be exact; My high school campus (it's true), the town where I had my babies, and a few specific areas in Central TX. Maybe I would go back to that softball park where Troy and I ate ice cream ...

I am here to attest to the fact that the burning of the cross is a beautiful thing. I'm not sure if they still do the same way. I think there were lawsuit issues at some point. we live in a strange world, don't we.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. . .you ACU people were just jealous that sitting outside on campus would result in a sunburn due to the LACK OF VEGITATION TALLER THAN A MESQUITE BUSH. Okay. . .so I am only commenting to say, "When were you at Harding?" and "Did I know you were at Harding?"
