Notes From the Drive-In

On Monday we went to the Town and Country Drive-In and these are some of the lessons learned:
1. Don't take fast food to the drive-in. It is hard to eat in the dark. Especially if you are 3.
2. Locate the bathrooms first. They are the same bathrooms from 1959.
3. Kids spill - take a roll of paper towels.
4. The smell of all food is over powering in an enclosed van. What smells good to one child will not to another.
5. There's no rewind - it's like a real movie.
6. The windows fog up when kids lean on the dashboard. Wiping them only makes a bigger mess.
7. You can throw up right outside the van - you don't HAVE to find the bathroom.

GEE! That sounds like fun. I have always loved the drive-in. My parents never let me go as a teen, but I went a few times anyway. Tom and I were banned from the drive-n after we couldn't remember the name of the movie,Mahogony when my parents asked what movie we had seen. Because I never did anything wrong at the drive-n, I felt like it was ok if I didn't get caught.

This is for Judy. When you were banned from the drive in--is that when you started going to Tom's parent's house for fun???

Hee Hee--couldn't resist.

love your blog Denise!

I could see the potential for the kind of fun that Tom and Judy had at Mahogony but I think the kids liked it. When they weren't mad at each other for whatever was annoying them at the moment.

Judy, you can go back-we love you no matter what!

Sounds like a blast! I would love to hear Jim's take on the trip.

Part of the "fun" of the drive-in was that Daddy was at work. Mommy has to do some things to help the kids make it though the holidays even if Daddy can't be there!

Does anyone remember the days that the drive-in charged by the carload? We would squeeze as many cousins in the car as we could and then sit on a quilt in front of the car during the movie...

Yes Robin, Thats why I continued to go after the banning. It was just too much fun to go with a big group. Who cares what the title is. I still don't know the title half the time. I know you all are surprised by that!

Okay...I was doing fine until the throwing up part! YUK! Next time we are at the drive-in, I am going to make sure if we park next to you, that we let you know so the puking can take place on the other side of the van! Otherwise, sounds like fun was had by all...I never remember that the drive-in is even an option. We should go sometime! I won't feel bad napping in the comfort of my own van!
